Experimental Study of Magnetocaloric Effect in Tetraaquabis(Hydrogen Maleato)Nickel(II), [Ni(C4H3O4)2(H2O)4]-A Potential Realization of a Spin-1 Spatially Anisotropic Square Lattice with Ferromagnetic Interactions

Petro Danylchenko et al.

Summary: This study presents an experimental investigation of the magnetocaloric effect in a powder sample of tetraaquabis(hydrogen maleato)nickel(II). The results show a large conventional magnetocaloric effect at a temperature of approximately 3.5 K. Comparison with a theoretical model suggests the presence of additional factors, such as exchange interactions between magnetic ions. Furthermore, calculations indicate the existence of ferromagnetic exchange interactions in the studied system, which may explain the enhanced magnetocaloric effect compared to the model of an anisotropic spin-1 paramagnet.
