Self-assembled embedding of ion exchange materials into nanofiber-based hydrogel framework for fluoride capture

Yan Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper reports a novel anion exchange membrane based on Kevlar amide nanofiber (KANF) for fluoride capture. The membrane is fabricated through the embedding and self-assembly of hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan (HACC) into the KANF-based hydrogel framework, and further sulfonated to enhance fluoride selectivity. The resulting membranes show low surface resistance and exceptional desalination efficiency, outperforming commercial membranes. They also exhibit resistance to fouling deposition and superior stability.

Alternating electric field-based ionic control and layer-by-layer assembly of anion exchange membranes for enhancing target anion selectivity

Yansu Lan et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel anion exchange membrane with high antifouling and target ion selectivity performance was designed through layer-by-layer assembly. The results showed that the permselectivity of the membrane could be enhanced by increasing the number of assembled multilayers. Furthermore, ion control in the assembly process significantly improved the target ion permeation rate. The resulting membrane also exhibited excellent antifouling properties.
