Superior CO2/N2 separation performance of highly branched Poly(1,3 dioxolane) plasticized by polyethylene glycol

Wenji Guo et al.

Summary: By plasticizing poly(1,3-dioxolane) (PDXLA) with miscible polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based additives, the CO2/N-2 separation properties of PDXLA can be further enhanced. The effects of the additives' properties and loading level on the physical properties of the blends are investigated, and a model is used to explain the effects on gas transport properties. The resulting sample shows excellent CO2/N-2 separation performance when challenged with a model flue gas at 60 degrees C, surpassing the previous upper bound.

PDMS thin-film composite membrane fabricated by ultraviolet crosslinking acryloyloxy-terminated monomers

Yang Pan et al.

Summary: In this work, we successfully fabricated ultrathin PDMS membranes using PDMS monomer terminated with acryloyloxy groups (AC-PDMS) for the first time. By optimizing the UV wavelength, irradiation time, and polymer concentration, the resulting ACPDMS TFC membrane showed excellent CO2 permeance and selectivity, as well as improved crosslinking and packing behavior compared to conventional OH-PDMS. This strategy based on UV crosslinking acryloyloxy-terminated monomers provides a new avenue for the scalable production of ultrathin PDMS membranes for practical molecular separation applications.
