Novel CFTR Activator Cact-3 Ameliorates Ocular Surface Dysfunctions in Scopolamine-Induced Dry Eye Mice

Dongkyu Jeon et al.

Summary: The study identified Cact-3 as a novel CFTR activator that can stimulate chloride secretion in ocular epithelium and alleviate symptoms in a dry eye disease mouse model. This suggests that Cact-3 could be a potential drug candidate for the treatment of dry eye disease.

VI-116, A Novel Potent Inhibitor of VRAC with Minimal Effect on ANO1

Dongkyu Jeon et al.

Summary: Volume-regulated anion channel (VRAC) plays a crucial role in cell volume regulation, and the lack of potent and selective VRAC inhibitors has limited the research in this field. In this study, a novel VRAC inhibitor, VI-116, was identified, which showed high selectivity for VRAC without affecting intracellular calcium signaling and hERG K+ channel activity.

Isorhamnetin Ameliorates Dry Eye Disease via CFTR Activation in Mice

Ho K. Lee et al.

Summary: The study identified isorhamnetin as a novel CFTR activator for treating dry eye disease, which increased tear volume and reduced ocular surface damage and inflammatory cytokine expression in an experimental mouse model of dry eye. The findings suggest that isorhamnetin could be a potential therapeutic agent for dry eye disease.
