Catalytic Atroposelective C7 Functionalisation of Indolines and Indoles

Saad Shaaban et al.

Summary: Axially chiral atropisomeric compounds, especially indole- and indoline-based frameworks, are important heterobiaryl classes widely applied in asymmetric catalysis and medicinal chemistry. The synthesis of C7-substituted indole biaryls and the analogous indoline derivatives is particularly challenging, and efficient methods for their synthesis are in high demand. Transition-metal catalysis is considered one of the most efficient methods for constructing atropisomers.

Asymmetric catalysis with chiral cyclopentadienyl complexes to access privileged scaffolds

Caitlin Davies et al.

Summary: The development of metal complexes containing chiral cyclopentadienyl (Cpx) ligands has been widely used in asymmetric catalysis, including challenging C-H bond functionalizations. These chiral Cpx ligands are often associated with Group 9 metals, early transition metals, and rare-earth elements, allowing the access to privileged scaffolds with high stereocontrol, commonly found in bioactive compounds.

Chiral Cyclopentadienyl Ligands: Design, Syntheses, and Applications in Asymmetric Catalysis

Josep Mas-Rosello et al.

Summary: The development of new chiral ligands is crucial for stereocontrol in metal-catalyzed reactions, especially with the increasing demand for bioactive molecules as single enantiomers. The successful application of Cp-X ligands in metal-catalyzed transformations allows access to valuable chiral molecules, with critical comparisons of existing ligand families and discussion of future research directions for further enhancing their performance and application in enantioselective catalysis.

Highly accurate protein structure prediction with AlphaFold

John Jumper et al.

Summary: Proteins are essential for life, and accurate prediction of their structures is a crucial research problem. Current experimental methods are time-consuming, highlighting the need for accurate computational approaches to address the gap in structural coverage. Despite recent progress, existing methods fall short of atomic accuracy in protein structure prediction.
