High-Efficiency Electromagnetic Interference Shielding of rGO@FeNi/Epoxy Composites with Regular Honeycomb Structures

Ping Song et al.

Summary: With the rapid development of fifth-generation mobile communication technology and wearable electronic devices, the need for highly efficient EMI shielding materials has become crucial. In this study, a three-dimensional graphene oxide (GO) with regular honeycomb structure (GH) was constructed using sacrificial template and freeze-drying methods. Amino functionalized FeNi alloy particles (f-FeNi) were loaded onto the GH skeleton followed by in-situ reduction to prepare rGH@FeNi aerogel. The resulting rGH@FeNi/epoxy composites with a low rGH@FeNi mass fraction of 2.1 wt% exhibited a high EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of 46 dB, which is 5.8 times higher than that of rGO/FeNi/epoxy composites with the same mass fraction. The composites also displayed excellent thermal stability and mechanical properties.

Enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption of Fe3O4@C derived from spindle-like MOF

Yu Cui et al.

Summary: Magnetic carbon materials derived from metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted extensive attention for their potential use in electromagnetic wave absorption. In this study, spindle-like Fe-MOFs with different compositions and microstructures were synthesized by adjusting the pyrolysis temperature. The hierarchical spindle-like Fe3O4@C composite prepared at 600 degrees C (H600) exhibits intriguing electromagnetic wave absorption performance due to the synergy of carbon framework, Fe3O4 microspheres, and the unique hierarchical porous structure. The maximum reflection loss achieved is -54.9 dB and the effective absorbing bandwidth extends from 11.1 to 17.6 GHz at a thickness of 2.61 mm.

A Perspective for Developing Polymer-Based Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Composites

Yali Zhang et al.

Summary: The rapid development of aerospace weapons and equipment, wireless base stations, and 5G communication technologies has increased the demands for polymer-based electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites. However, most of these composites fail to combine high performance and multi-functionality. In response, three possible directions for overcoming these limitations have been proposed, including the construction of efficient conductive networks and the optimization of multi-interfaces for lightweight and multifunction compatibility. This research aims to provide a theoretical basis and technical guidance for the preparation and development of polymer-based EMI shielding composites.
