Direct observation of Face-centered cubic zirconium phase growth-induced stacking faults in Zr3Ge secondary phase nanoparticle

Fuzhou Han et al.

Summary: The presence of stacking faults (SFs) in Zr3Ge secondary phase particles (SPPs) in Ge-modified Zirconium alloys significantly affects their stability, and the formation of SFs is induced by mechanical stress exerted by the adjacent Face-centered cubic Zirconium (FCC-Zr) phase.

Deformation mechanism and cyclic stress response of Zircaloy-4 alloy cladding tube during low cycle fatigue at room temperature

Wenbin Guo et al.

Summary: This work systematically investigated the deformation mechanism and cyclic stress response behavior of Zircaloy-4 alloy cladding tube at room temperature. Low cyclic fatigue tests revealed that cyclic softening and hardening strongly depend on the applied strain amplitude, and prismatic < a > slip was the primary cyclic deformation mode when the value of plastic strain amplitude is less than that of elastic strain amplitude.

A new type face-centered cubic zirconium phase in pure zirconium

Fusen Yuan et al.

Summary: Only two orientation relationships (OR) between hexagonal close-packed (HCP) (alpha phase) and face-centered cubic (FCC) structures in zirconium and titanium alloys have been reported so far. A new type FCC phase (named gamma phase) was observed for the first time in annealed pure zirconium by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) technique. The alpha -> gamma phase transformation occurs via expansion along [1100] direction and slip of Shockley partial dislocation with 1/3 [1 (gamma) over bar 00] on (0001) basal planes.

FCC phase transformation of Zr alloy during air cooling and aging

Boran Tao et al.

Summary: The FCC phase in air-cooled and aged Zr-1.0Sn-1.0Nb-0.3Fe alloy was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high angle annular dark field scanning TEM (HAADF-STEM), revealing a specific orientation relationship between FCC and HCP matrix. Additionally, it was found that the FCC-Zr phase can continue to grow during the aging process at 580 degrees C instead of being replaced by HCP matrix.
