Dewetting of Ni silicide thin film on Si substrate: In-situ experimental study and phase-field modeling

Jianbao Gao et al.

Summary: In this paper, the kinetics and mechanisms of dewetting and agglomeration of NiSi films on Si substrates were investigated using in-situ SEM technique and 3-D phase-field simulation. Abnormal grain growth and grain misorientation were found to be the main factors contributing to dewetting and agglomeration. Recommendations were made to increase the volume fraction of low angle grains and decrease grain misorientation to slow down or suppress agglomeration.

Kinetics of the hydrogen absorption and desorption processes of hydrogen storage alloys: A review

Qian Li et al.

Summary: This paper summarizes the kinetic models based on different kinetic measurement methods and rate-controlling steps for studying the kinetic mechanism of hydrogen storage alloys. The analysis procedures of kinetic experimental data and the effects of temperature, hydrogen pressure, and particle radius are explained in detail. The applications of the kinetic models for different hydrogen storage alloys are also introduced.

Temperature Dependence of the γ/γ′ Interfacial Energy in Binary Ni-Al Alloys

Alan J. Ardell

Summary: This study analyzed the coarsening kinetics of gamma ' precipitates in binary Ni-Al alloys and found that the interfacial free energy sigma decreases with increasing temperature. The temperature-dependent transition radius r(trans) was calculated, and the validity of using TIDC coarsening equations was confirmed through comparison with values obtained from traditional LSW kinetics.

Thermodynamics and kinetics of hydriding and dehydriding reactions in Mg-based hydrogen storage materials

Qian Li et al.

Summary: Magnesium-based materials show promise as hydrogen storage candidates due to their high capacity, environmental friendliness, and high Clarke number characteristics. However, limited thermodynamic and kinetic properties have posed challenges for their engineering applications. Recent progress has focused on improving these properties through alloying, composite materials, and nanocrystallization, leading to enhanced hydrogen storage efficiency.
