Influence of Magnetic Scaffold Loading Patterns on Their Hyperthermic Potential Against Bone Tumors

Matteo B. Lodi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the loading of magnetic nanoparticles into poly-caprolactone scaffolds using drop-casting deposition to achieve different distributions. The physicochemical properties, microstructure, and morphological alterations of the magnetic scaffolds were analyzed and evaluated. THz tomography was used to determine the spatial distribution of nanoparticles, and multiphysics simulations were conducted to study the impact of loading patterns on interstitial bone tumor hyperthermia treatment.

Nano Iron Oxide-PCL Composite as an Improved Soft Tissue Scaffold

Vahid Rezaei et al.

Summary: Iron oxide nanoparticles coated with L-lysine were incorporated into PCL fibers to fabricate a soft tissue scaffold with enhanced biological characteristics. The nanocomposite scaffolds showed increased cell viability and enhanced tensile strength, indicating that the incorporation of magnetite nanoparticles promoted cell growth and provided valuable iron element to the attached cells. This study suggests that these magnetite enriched PCL nanofibers could be potential scaffolds for liver tissue engineering applications.
