Monte Carlo Investigation of Blume-Emery-Griffiths Model with Mixed Spins

M. Bourass et al.

Summary: Using Monte Carlo simulation, the phase diagrams and magnetic properties of a mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Blume-Emery-Griffiths model on a simple cubic lattice were investigated. The thermal variations of the magnetizations of the Blume-Capel model and its phase diagram were plotted, showing second-order phase transitions and compensation temperatures. The effect of introducing a biquadratic coupling on the previously observed critical and compensation behaviors in the Blume-Capel model was studied.

Summary: The paper investigates the Blume-Emery-Griffiths model for a magnetic bilayer with coordination number z = 5. The Cluster Variational Method in Pair Approximation is used, with a special emphasis on the magnetic and magnetocaloric properties in the cases of 1st order phase transitions.

Effects of the random single-ion anisotropy on the spin-1 Blume-Emery-Griffiths model

Summary: The study examines the properties of the Blume-Emery-Griffiths (BEG) model on the Bethe lattice under the influence of a crystal field, exploring various parameters to obtain rich phase diagrams with diverse transition behaviors. Various phases such as ferromagnetic, paramagnetic, staggered quadrupolar, and ferrimagnetic phases were observed, with the occurrence of second- and first-order phase transitions, tricritical, bicritical, and critical end points, as well as reentrant behavior.
