High-Spatial-Resolution Strain Sensor Based on Distance Compensation and Image Wavelet Denoising Method in OFDR

Summary: A high-spatial-resolution strain sensor in OFDR was experimentally demonstrated by combining distance compensation (DC) and image wavelet denoising (IWD) method. The method achieved four times enhancement of the accuracy for the strain senor without hardware modification, making it a significant step towards a high performance OFDR system, especially for evaluating the rapid change of object's structural condition.

Improvement of Strain Measurement Range via Image Processing Methods in OFDR System

Summary: The performance of optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) has been experimentally analyzed and compared with image processing methods to extend the strain measurement range up to 7000 microstrain with a 4 mm spatial resolution, overcoming limitations of traditional processing methods. Wavelet transform is discussed in detail to determine the suitable decomposition level in OFDR data processing scheme, providing a new idea to achieve wide strain measurement range in OFDR system.

High Spatial Resolution Investigation of OFDR Based on Image Denoising Methods

Summary: In this study, image denoising methods were introduced to improve measurement accuracy in OFDR system by suppressing random noise and enhancing spatial resolution. Experimental results showed that with image denoising methods, strain gradients with high spatial resolution can be effectively identified, achieving a spatial resolution of 1.3mm in a long distance OFDR system. The proposed methods provide a potential solution for high-performance OFDR system for practical applications.
