High Accuracy Distributed Polarization Extinction Ratio Measurement For a Polarization-Maintaining Device With Strong Polarization Crosstalk

Zhangjun Yu et al.

Summary: The study introduces a distributed measurement method for polarization extinction ratio (PER) based on white-light interferometry, which accurately measures the PER distribution of PM devices and calibrates errors. The experiment demonstrates good matching accuracy and calibration precision.

High extinction ratio elliptical core Panda-type polarization-maintaining fiber coil

Haoyu Li et al.

Summary: This study presents an elliptical core Panda-type polarization-maintaining fiber coil, which demonstrates better polarization-maintaining performance and lower sensitivity compared to traditional coils. It shows potential for applications in high-precision optical fiber sensors.

Fiber-optic gyroscope for the suppression of a Faraday-effect-induced bias error

Aylin Yertutanol et al.

Summary: Interferometric fiber-optic gyroscopes (IFOGs) are widely used in military and industrial applications for their high sensitivity and stability. A new fiber coil design is proposed in this study to reduce magnetic field sensitivity without adding optical components or electronic algorithms to the IFOG system, resulting in a significant reduction in bias error. This design allows for the compensation of Faraday-effect-induced bias error by allowing two different polarizations to travel inside the fiber coil, reducing bias error by approximately 20 times in experimental results.
