Pulmonary lesions induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection in domestic cats

Olivia M. Patania et al.

Summary: This study investigated histologic lung lesions and viral loads following experimental SARS-CoV-2 infection in cats. The findings suggest that pulmonary lesions persist beyond the detection of viral RNA and cats can serve as a model to study post-acute pulmonary sequelae.

Transcatheter closure of patent ductus arteriosus in 11 dogs and one cat after incomplete or aborted surgical ligation

L. E. Markovic et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively describes the characteristics and outcomes of transcatheter patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) occlusion in dogs and cats after incomplete or aborted surgical ligation. Transcatheter closure is feasible even in small patients when surgery is unsuccessful due to hemorrhage or residual flow.

Case Report: Successful Reperfusion of Pulmonary Thromboembolism Using tPA in a Cat

Blake Sutton et al.

Summary: Pulmonary thromboembolism is a life-threatening condition that is rarely recognized in cats. This report describes a case of a cat with pulmonary thromboembolism, its diagnosis through echocardiography, and successful thrombolysis. Despite confirmed reperfusion, the cat ultimately died, highlighting the lack of knowledge regarding optimal treatment for this disease in small animals, particularly in cats.

Pulmonary arterial pressure and nasal obstruction in mouth-breathing children: Similarities between adenotonsillar hypertrophy and allergic rhinitis

Carolina Maria Fontes Ferreira Nader et al.

Summary: For children with mouth-breathing allergic rhinitis and adenotonsillar hypertrophy, poor nasal patency is correlated with higher systolic pulmonary arterial pressure. The groups with allergic rhinitis and adenotonsillar hypertrophy were similar in terms of nasal obstruction severity and systolic pulmonary arterial pressure distribution.

Incidence and predictors of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension following acute pulmonary embolism: An echocardiography guided approach

G. Agarwal et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the incidence and predictors of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) following acute pulmonary embolism (PE), revealing an incidence rate of 8.19%. Delayed presentation, higher pulmonary artery pressures at presentation and discharge, and greater thrombotic burden were significant predictors for the development of CTEPH.

Congenital isolated unilateral agenesis of pulmonary arteries in adults: case series and review

Pankaj Jariwala et al.

Summary: Congenital isolated unilateral agenesis of pulmonary arteries (UAPA) presents with bimodal clinical manifestations, being diagnosed either in early infancy or adulthood. Early diagnosis and surgical correction in infancy can prevent irreversible pulmonary hypertension and prolong survival. Adults with UAPA may be asymptomatic or present with symptoms such as dyspnea and chest pain.
