Superoxide Formation from Aqueous Reactions of Biogenic Secondary Organic Aerosols

Jinlai Wei et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the dominant formation of superoxide (O2•−) in the aqueous reactions of biogenic SOA generated by photooxidation, with a molar yield of 0.01-0.03%. Kinetic modeling reveals the relationship between the relative yields of various types of ROS and the abundance of organic hydroperoxides and alcohols in SOA.

The interaction laws of atmospheric heavy metal ions and water-soluble organic compounds in PM2.5 based on the excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy

Xiaobo Wang et al.

Summary: The EEM fluorescence spectroscopy combined with PARAFAC was used to characterize the fluorescence properties of WSOCs in PM2.5, revealing HULIS as the main substances binding with metal ions, with the interaction strength related to the types and concentrations of metal ions. The study suggested that the interactions of atmospheric heavy metal ions and WSOCs in PM2.5 may play a significant role in atmospheric environment and public health.

Adipose mesenchymal stem cell-derived antioxidative extracellular vesicles exhibit anti-oxidative stress and immunomodulatory effects under PM2.5 exposure

Yongheng Gao et al.

Summary: PM2.5 exposure leads to elevated levels of ROS in the lungs, causing oxidative stress and inflammation. Treatment with Antioxi-EVs derived from ADSCs can suppress ROS levels and reduce oxidative stress, inflammation, and lung injury induced by PM2.5 through anti-oxidative stress and immunomodulation pathways.

Activation of the ROS/HO-1/NQO1 signaling pathway contributes to the copper-induced oxidative stress and autophagy in duck renal tubular epithelial cells

Yukun Fang et al.

Summary: This study found that Cu can induce oxidative stress and autophagy through the ROS/HO-1/NQO1 pathway, and inhibition of HO-1 can alleviate Cu-induced oxidative stress and autophagy.
