Understanding Carbon Nanotube Voltammetry: Distinguishing Adsorptive and Thin Layer Effects via Single-Entity Electrochemistry

Archana Kaliyaraj Selva Kumar et al.

Summary: The cyclic voltammetry of ensembles of nanotube-modified electrodes cannot distinguish between signals from electroactive material adsorbed on the tubes and those from analyte material occluded in the pores of the ensemble. However, the distinction can be clearly made by combining cyclic voltammetry with single-entity measurements.

Potentiometric Biosensing of Ascorbic Acid, Uric Acid, and Cysteine in Microliter Volumes Using Miniaturized Nanoporous Gold Electrodes

Christopher J. Freeman et al.

Summary: Potentiometric redox sensing is a relatively inexpensive and passive method for evaluating the overall redox state of complex biological and environmental solutions. This study focuses on the fabrication of miniaturized nanoporous gold electrodes for potentiometric redox sensing of biologically relevant redox molecules in microliter volumes. Results show that the redox potential of solutions containing biologically relevant concentrations of ascorbic acid, uric acid, and cysteine is strongly influenced by ascorbic acid at NPG electrodes.

Mass Transport in Nanoporous Gold and Correlation with Surface Pores for EC1 Mechanism: Case of Ascorbic Acid

Abhishek Kumar et al.

Summary: The study shows that the reaction pathway of AA on NPG electrodes transitions from diffusion EC1 to adsorption EC1 as the deposition potential or time changes during NPG film preparation, which is correlated with the evolution of surface pores inside the NPG films.
