Mohammad Noor-A-Alam et al.

Summary: This study shows that the enhancement of piezoelectricity in w-AlN through Li and X (X = V, Nb, Ta) co-doping, making them potential lead-free piezoelectric materials. It also demonstrates the potential of these materials to improve piezoelectric response and electric polarization.

Yang Yang et al.

Summary: The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of La-modified Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-xPbTiO(3) crossover ceramics were systematically studied, showing enhancements at the ferroelectric-relaxor boundary. The ferroelectric-relaxor boundary in the crossover region may become an effective approach to enhance the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of ferroelectric materials.

Enhanced piezoelectric performance of PVDF-based electrospun nanofibers by utilizing in situ synthesized graphene-ZnO nanocomposites

Mahdi Hasanzadeh et al.

Summary: The study synthesized graphene-zinc oxide nanocomposite for use in electrospun PVDF nanofibers, resulting in uniform, bead-free nanofibers with improved piezoelectric properties. The addition of synthesized G-ZnO nanocomposite decreased nanofiber diameter and increased the crystalline and polar beta phase of PVDF nanofibers, leading to superior peak-to-peak voltage compared to pristine PVDF and PVDF/ZnO nanofibers. These findings offer new insights for the development of flexible piezoelectric nanofibrous devices and energy harvesting systems.

Enhancement of piezoelectric property in MgTMAlN (TM = Cr, Mo, W): First-principles study

Kenji Hirata et al.

Summary: In this study, a large enhancement in piezoelectric response of wurtzite-AlN was achieved by adding Mg and transition metals (TM = Cr, Mo, W). MgWAlN showed the highest piezoelectric performance, with a d(33) value 10 times higher than that of AlN and 1.5 times higher than that of ScAlN. The increase in d33 in MgMoAlN and MgWAlN was attributed to a weaker ionic and covalent bonding compared to Al, leading to elastic softening and significant enhancement in piezoelectricity.

First-principles calculation of electroacoustic properties of wurtzite (Al,Sc)N

Daniel F. Urban et al.

Summary: Through first-principles calculations based on density functional theory, the electroacoustic properties of aluminum scandium nitride Al1-xScxN were studied. By constructing and analyzing atomistic models for different Sc concentrations, the functional dependence of material properties on scandium concentration was revealed. The observed elastic softening and extraordinary increase in piezoelectric response with increasing Sc content were explained through an element-specific analysis of bond lengths and bond angles.
