Synthesis and crystal structure of bis(thiomorpholinyldithiocarbamato)Cu(II) complex and its use as precursor for CuS nanoparticles photocatalyst for the degradation of organic dyes

Nolwazi Solomane et al.

Summary: A Bis(thiomorpholinyldithicarbamate)Cu(II) complex was prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, revealing a mononuclear copper(II) ion bonded to two thiomorpholinyl dithiocarbamate anion in a distorted square planar geometry. The compound was thermolyzed to produce CuS nanoparticles, confirmed to be pure hexagonal covellite crystalline phase. The CuS nanoparticles exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity for methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dyes degradation.

Bis-(N-ethylphenyldithiocarbamato)palladium(II) as molecular precursor for palladium sulfide nanoparticles

Athandwe M. Paca et al.

Summary: The synthesis and characterization of Bis(N-ethylphenyldithiocarbamato)palladium(II) and its thermal decomposition products, palladium sulfide nanoparticles, revealed a relationship between temperature and the optical and morphological properties of the nanoparticles. Higher temperatures resulted in larger nanoparticles with non-uniform size distribution, showing rough surface morphologies. The optical band gap of the nanoparticles increased slightly with temperature.

Gold(III) to Ruthenium(III) Metal Exchange in Dithiocarbamato Complexes Tunes Their Biological Mode of Action for Cytotoxicity in Cancer Cells

Maria Dalla Pozza et al.

Summary: Malignant tumors have affected humans since ancient times, with recent increases in incidence due to various risk factors. Research has focused on developing new metal-based complexes to improve selectivity for cancer cells and reduce side effects, potentially leading to more effective anticancer drugs. The study highlights the importance of the electronic and structural properties of metal in fine-tuning biological properties of these complexes.

Synthesis, X-ray crystal structures and anticancer studies of four Pd(II) dithiocarbamate complexes

Athandwe M. Paca et al.

Summary: The study synthesized and characterized four palladium complexes with high to moderate potency against human cell lines. Two of the complexes were very effective against the three cell lines, while the other two had slightly lower anticancer efficacy.
