Tunable Assembly of Organic-Inorganic Molecules into Hierarchical Superstructures as Ligase Mimics for Enhancing Tumor Photothermal Therapy

Yongjian Ai et al.

Summary: In this study, a metal-ligand cross-linking strategy was developed for the fabrication of ferric ion-dopamine coordination hierarchical superstructures. Various superstructures with complex morphologies were synthesized, and the formation mechanism was explored. The hierarchical superstructure was used as peroxidase-like ligase mimics to enhance tumor photothermal treatment, and it showed effective tumor cell ablation in vitro and in vivo. This work opens new horizons in hierarchical superstructures and has great potential in nanozymology, biomedical science, and catalysis.

Engineering Hierarchical Co@N-Doped Carbon Nanotubes/α-Ni(OH)2 Heterostructures on Carbon Cloth Enabling High-Performance Aqueous Nickel-Zinc Batteries

Longzhen Zhu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the design and synthesis of a hierarchical cathode structure with ultrathin alpha-Ni(OH)(2) nanosheets branched onto 3D cross-linked N-doped carbon nanotubes encapsulated with Co nano-particles. The resulting battery exhibits impressive capacity, energy density, rate capability, and cycling performance, which can be attributed to factors such as active sites, rapid electron transfer, electrolyte access, ion transport, and structural stability. These findings may guide the development of high-performance energy-related devices using carbon-based hybrid materials supported on conductive substrates.

Aluminum-doping-based method for the improvement of the cycle life of cobalt-nickel hydroxides for nickel-zinc batteries

Xinqiang Zhu et al.

Summary: To address the unsatisfactory cycle life of nickel-zinc batteries, researchers developed a facile process to prepare aluminum-doped cobalt-nickel double hydroxides on a carbon cloth. This new electrode material exhibited improved cycling stability and led to a more than 14% increase in cycle life of the as-constructed Ni-Zn battery, which also demonstrated high specific capacity, good rate capability, and superior fast-charging ability.

Exposing (001) crystal facet on the single crystalline fl-Ni(OH)2 quasi-nanocubes for aqueous Ni-Zn batteries

Tingting Chen et al.

Summary: A hydrothermal method was used to synthesize uniform single-crystal fl-Ni(OH)2 quasi-nanocubes for developing a stable aqueous Ni-Zn battery with good energy density. The nanosized fl-NQNCs enhanced the stability of the cathode and accelerated the charge transfer process. The battery exhibited excellent areal specific capacity, energy density, power density, and flexibility under bending.
