Bifunctional Co3O4-La2O2CO3@C derived from MOFs for peroxymonosulfate activation to degrade roxarsone and simultaneous removal of released inorganic arsenic from water

Yuxin Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Co3O4-La2O2CO3@C composite was fabricated and demonstrated to efficiently activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for simultaneous oxidation of roxarsone (ROX) and adsorption of inorganic arsenic. The composite exhibited superior stability and high adsorption capacity. Mechanistic studies revealed the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the degradation of ROX and conversion of arsenic species. The practical application potential of the composite was further evaluated in a continuous flow column reactor.

Peroxydisulfate activation by sulfur-doped ordered mesoporous carbon: Insight into the intrinsic relationship between defects and 1O2 generation

Shiyu Liu et al.

Summary: The carbon-catalyzed persulfate-based advanced oxidation process (PS-AOP) has gained attention for its green and economical nature. Sulfur-doped ordered mesoporous carbons (S-OMCs) were used to activate peroxydisulfate (PDS) for ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal. The study found a correlation between defect level and O-1(2) yield, and investigated the impact of various reaction conditions and water matrix. The S-OMC-1000/PDS activation system showed promising results for CIP removal, even in the presence of common inorganic anions and natural organic matter (NOM).

MOFs-derived hollow FeCo@C as peroxymonosulfate activator for degradation of organic pollutants: Insight into the catalytic sites by experimental and theoretical study

Huanxuan Li et al.

Summary: A hollow sphere (FeCo@C) is developed and shows high catalytic efficiency in the degradation of orange G (OG) using peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The FeCo alloy's (1 1 0) crystal plane is determined as the most active site for PMS activation. The generated reactive species (SO4 center dot-, (OH)-O-center dot, and O-1(2)) contribute to the catalytic performance. The synergistic effects between Fe and Co species are responsible for the high catalytic efficiency.
