Summary: An antibacterial component screening of Prunus armeniaca leaf extract was conducted using HPTLC-direct bioautography and HPTLC-ESI-MS techniques. Triterpenoids and fatty acids were identified as the bioactive compounds. Ursolic acid, oleanolic acid, betulinic acid, corosolic acid, and maslinic acid were discovered for the first time as antibacterial components of P. armeniaca leaves, and their presence was confirmed by 2D-HPTLC and in situ derivatization with iodine.

Free Linoleic Acid and Oleic Acid Reduce Fat Digestion and Absorption In Vivo as Potent Pancreatic Lipase Inhibitors Derived from Sesame Meal

Xuan Li et al.

Summary: Pancreatic lipase is crucial in the digestion of dietary fat, and modulating its activity is a strategy to combat obesity. Orlistat is currently the only approved pancreatic lipase inhibitor for obesity treatment, but its side effects limit its tolerability. This study identified free linoleic acid and oleic acid as potent inhibitors of pancreatic lipase, with potential for weight management.
