Chiral resolution of the insecticide fipronil enantiomers and the simultaneous determination of its major transformation products by high-performance liquid chromatography interfaced with mass spectrometry

Lea Paolini et al.

Summary: In this study, a HPLC-MS method using a chiral column was developed to analyze fipronil and its related transformation products. The method achieved simultaneous and complete separation of multiple fiproles, including chiral separation of fipronil enantiomers, metabolites, and photoproducts. The efficacy of this method was demonstrated by analyzing fipronil samples exposed to sunlight. This study provides an experimental approach and efficient analytical tool for monitoring the environmental fate of fipronil and its transformation products.

The separation of several organophosphate pesticides on immobilized polysaccharide chiral stationary phases

William L. Champion et al.

Summary: While not initially a focus or priority, the activity of individual enantiomers of widely used pesticides has been emphasized in recent decades. This study investigated the enantioselective separations of seven such organophosphorus pesticides using chiral high-performance liquid chromatography. The results provide new chiral separations and insight into the effect of mobile phase strength and temperature on the separations, allowing for further optimization of analysis conditions.

Simultaneous enantiomeric determination of multiple triazole fungicides in fruits and vegetables by chiral liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry on a bridged bis(β-cyclodextrin)-bonded chiral stationary phase

Yazhou Shuang et al.

Summary: A new high-throughput LC-MS/MS method was developed for convenient monitoring of chiral pesticides in fruits and vegetables, enabling simultaneous enantio-separation of multiple analytes and simplification of sample pre-treatment. This method demonstrated good linearity, high recoveries, and accurate determination of enantiomeric fractions in strawberry, cucumber, and tomato samples.

Summary: Biomonitoring is an effective tool for controlling health risks in populations exposed to various chemicals. The study presents a new approach using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) with a low transition temperature mixture as the extraction solvent for analyzing pesticides in urine samples. The method offers advantages in terms of rapidity, simplicity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness compared to other methods, and has been successfully applied in analyzing urine samples from volunteers.
