Drosophila melanogaster as an indispensable model to decipher the mode of action of neurotoxic compounds

Monalisa Mishra et al.

Summary: Exposure to certain toxic compounds can lead to structural and behavioral anomalies in neurons later in life. These neurotoxicants can be physical factors, toxins, infections, radiation, or drugs. The extent of incongruities caused by a neurotoxicant depends on its toxicity, concentration, and time of exposure. Neurodevelopmental defects can include developmental delays, structural abnormalities, behavioral abnormalities, and even fetal death. Fruit flies are commonly used as model organisms to study the effects of neurotoxicants.

Turn-on fluorescence probe for BSA detection and selective cell imaging

Yabei Chen et al.

Summary: In this paper, a cationic amphiphile named DPP-10 was designed, synthesized, and applied as a turn-on fluorescence probe for BSA detection and selective cell imaging. DPP-10 exhibited weak fluorescence emission in solution, but its emission was significantly enhanced when BSA was added. The probe showed a low limit of detection, good selectivity for BSA, high photostability, and immunity to ion disturbance.

BSA Interaction, Molecular Docking, and Antibacterial Activity of Zinc(II) Complexes Containing the Sterically Demanding Biomimetic N3S2 Ligand: The Effect of Structure Flexibility

Eman Soliman et al.

Summary: Two zinc(II) complexes with (ZnN3S2) cores, DBZ and DBZH(4), effectively bind to BSA and the binding affinity depends on the ligand structure. Both complexes exhibit dynamic quenching at low concentrations and mixed quenching at high concentrations. Molecular docking shows that DBZ has higher energy for binding, consistent with antibacterial testing results.
