The InSe/g-CN van der Waals hybrid heterojunction as a photocatalyst for water splitting driven by visible light

Cheng He et al.

Summary: In this study, the photocatalytic activity of water splitting in the InSe/g-CN heterojunction is theoretically investigated using first-principles calculations. It is found that the InSe/g-CN heterojunction exhibits efficient electron-hole separation and meets the criteria for water photolysis. Thermodynamic sustainability of photolysis water is evaluated by calculating the changes in Gibbs free energy. The results suggest that the InSe/g-CN heterojunction can drive the spontaneous progress of both the oxygen evolution reaction and the hydrogen evolution reaction. Additionally, the heterojunction shows a high solar conversion efficiency, indicating its promising commercial applications.

The structural and electronic properties of Carbon-related point defects on 4H-SiC (0001) surface

Shengsheng Wei et al.

Summary: The structural and electronic properties of carbon-related defects on the 4H-SiC surface were investigated, and their effects on the material were studied. The results showed that interstitial defects caused surface reconstruction, and the formation of C-Si, C-i1, C-i3 and C-i4 was favored under carbon-rich conditions, while V-C was favored under silicon-rich conditions.

Dipole-induced Ohmic contacts between monolayer Janus MoSSe and bulk metals

Ning Zhao et al.

Summary: By first-principles calculations, it is found that monolayer Janus MoSSe exhibits different Fermi level pinning on its two sides when in contact with different metallic electrodes. However, both sides can form Ohmic contacts with common electrode materials, which is a significant advantage over MoS2 and MoSe2.
