Spin transport in a two-dimensional tight-binding system with Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit interactions in the presence of static random disorder

Hemant Kumar Sharma et al.

Summary: The longitudinal charge and spin conductivities in a two-dimensional system with random static disorder are studied in the presence of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit interactions. It is found that the spin and charge conductivities are enhanced by the interactions while reduced by impurities. The effects of Rashba and Dresselhaus interactions on the ratio of longitudinal spin conductivity to charge conductivity are also investigated.

Unified Framework for Charge-Spin Interconversion in Spin-Orbit Materials

Shehrin Sayed et al.

Summary: Materials with spin-orbit coupling are of great interest for spintronics applications, but there is currently no unifying physical framework to design material systems and devices with desired properties. By analyzing experimental data in a unified manner, it was found that the density of states in a material plays a crucial role in determining the charge-spin interconversion efficiency, leading to a simple inverse relationship. Furthermore, two figure of merits related to the efficiency of spin-orbit-torque and the inverse Rashba-Edelstein effect length show good agreement with existing experimental data across a wide variety of materials.

Effect of proximity-induced spin-orbit coupling in graphene mesoscopic billiards

Anderson L. R. Barbosa et al.

Summary: Through theoretical investigation, we found that in mesoscopic devices built from graphene proximity-coupled to a high spin-orbit coupling material, robust weak antilocalization can be generated even when the z -> -z symmetric spin-orbit coupling dominates over the Bychkov-Rashba interaction. The observed behavior of quantum interference corrections is linked to a transition from a circular-orthogonal to circular-symplectic ensemble, interpreting our findings in the light of random matrix theory.
