Microstructure, superelasticity and elastocaloric behavior of Ti-18Zr-11 Nb-3Sn strain glass alloys by thermomechanical treatment

Lingjiao Kong et al.

Summary: The effect of thermomechanical treatment on the superelasticity, phase transition behavior, and elastocaloric properties of Ti-18Zr-11 Nb-3Sn alloys was analyzed. The annealing temperature resulted in the dissolution of the Zr5Sn3 phase, strain glass behavior, and a decrease in the ideal freezing temperature. By adjusting the annealing temperature, the superelasticity and elastocaloric working window of the alloy can be expanded.

Phase Transformation and Kinetics in Metastable β Titanium Alloy During Isothermal Treatment

Qingjuan Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the microstructure evolution and precipitation mechanism of the alpha-phase in a metastable beta titanium alloy during isothermal treatment, revealing different mechanisms of beta to alpha phase transformation under various isothermal conditions. The shape of alpha-phase changes with temperature, impacting the hardness of the alloy. Isothermal aging at 450°C leads to the highest peak hardness of 373 HV, with phase separation observed during aging process.

Enhanced work hardening from oxygen-stabilized ω precipitates in an aged metastable β Ti-Nb alloy

Kathleen Chou et al.

Summary: Oxygen partitioning to omega phase during aging improves compressive yield strength and work hardening behavior of titanium alloys containing oxygen-stabilized omega precipitates. Oxygen may offer design strategies to address embrittlement and loss of ductility in omega-strengthened beta Ti alloys.

Effect of Sn content on microstructure, texture evolution, transformation behavior and superelastic properties of Ti-20Zr-9Nb-(2-5)Sn (at.%) shape memory alloys

Shuanglei Li et al.

Summary: Increasing Sn content can effectively stabilize the beta phase, prevent recrystallization, affect texture evolution, and lower the α''->β reverse transformation start and finish temperatures. The distinctly observed superelasticity in the 5Sn alloy specimen indicates the potential for practical applications.
