Tri-metallic AuPdIr nanoalloy towards efficient hydrogen generation from formic acid

Summary: In this study, an efficient catalyst Au0.35Pd0.5Ir0.15/NH2-N-rGO was successfully synthesized and applied for hydrogen generation from formic acid. The addition of Ir was found to change the rate determining step and improve the conversion and selectivity of the catalyst. Furthermore, it was shown that this method can be extended to other tri-metallic alloys with the addition of other high gamma elements, resulting in effective catalysts for hydrogen generation from formic acid.

Cost-effective synthesis of carbon loaded Co3O4 for controlled hydrogen generation via NaBH4 hydrolysis

Summary: This study synthesized carbon loaded cobalt oxide (C-Co3O4) for hydrogen generation via NaBH4 hydrolysis using the simple and economical process of combustion. The effects of NaBH4 concentration, pH, and temperature on hydrogen generation were investigated, revealing zero order reaction kinetics for C-Co3O4. A stable Hydrogen Generation Rate (HGR) was observed in the temperature range of 300-315 K, with a maximum HGR of 5430 ml min(-1) g(-1) at 320 K. The activation energy for NaBH4 hydrolysis using C-Co3O4 was calculated to be 55.9 kJ mol(-1).

Bimetallic Ni-Co nanoparticles as an efficient catalyst of hydrogen generation via hydrolysis of NaBH4

Summary: In this study, Ni-Co bimetallic nanoparticles were successfully synthesized, and the effects of different Ni contents on particle size and polydispersity were observed. Ni50Co50 showed the highest catalytic activity for the hydrolysis of alkaline NaBH4 solutions. The kinetic studies revealed that the hydrolysis rate increased with higher NaBH4 concentration and decreased with higher pH value of the solution. The activation energy of the reaction decreased with decreasing NaBH4 and catalyst contents.

This study focuses on exploring low-cost and high-efficiency catalysts for hydrogen generation through AB hydrolysis. The researchers successfully synthesized Ru-Co2P@N-C/GO catalysts, which exhibited excellent catalytic performance and opened up new possibilities for effective and economical AB hydrolysis catalysts.

MIL-101-Derived Mesoporous Carbon Supporting Highly Exposed Fe Single-Atom Sites as Efficient Oxygen Reduction Reaction Catalysts

Summary: Fe single-atom catalysts with atomic FeNx active sites show great promise as alternatives to platinum-based catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction. This study utilized a mesoporous MOF NH2-MIL-101(Al) as a precursor to prepare a series of N-doped carbon supports with well-defined mesoporous structure at different pyrolysis temperatures. The resulting Fe SAC-MIL101-T catalysts showed outstanding ORR activity in alkaline media and excellent performance in zinc-air batteries.

Controllable hydrogen generation behavior by hydrolysis of MgH2-based materials

Summary: The study systematically investigated the catalytic activity of typical oxides, hydroxides and chlorides on the hydrolysis of MgH2 in water, thereby tuning the reaction kinetics. It was found that the hydrogen generation rate of the system can be significantly improved when hydrolyzed in a slightly acidic solution of chloride salts. By tailoring the milling time, concentration of aqueous solutions, and the way of introducing solute, both the hydrogen generation rate and capacity can be well-controlled.
