N dopants triggered new active sites and fast charge transfer in MoS2 nanosheets for full Response-Recovery NO2 detection at room temperature

Ruozhen Wu et al.

Summary: The engineered N-doped MoS2 sensor shows rapid room-temperature response and recovery for NO2 detection, with high sensitivity, low detection limit, excellent selectivity, repeatability, and humidity resistance. The fast response and recovery mechanism is triggered by the synergistic effect of N dopants creating new active sites and facilitating fast charge transfer. This result could potentially advance the development of TMDs-based sensing materials for improved room-temperature performance.

High-Performance Wearable Sensor Inspired by the NeuronConduction Mechanism through Gold-Induced Sulfur Vacancies

Xinwei Chen et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel design of gas sensor based on neuron-mimic architecture, which exhibits high sensitivity and excellent selectivity. By introducing gold quantum dots-induced lattice deviation of S atoms in Bi2S3 nanosheets, a sensor network with abundant defect sites is formed. The fabricated sensor shows significantly enhanced response value and ultrafast response/recovery performance in detecting NO2, thanks to the favorable gas adsorption and charge transfer properties arising from S vacancies. Additionally, the sensor is successfully integrated into a wearable device for real-time visual detection of target gases.

Increased Active Sites and Charge Transfer in the SnS2/TiO2 Heterostructure for Visible-Light-Assisted NO2 Sensing

Quan Sun et al.

Summary: The SnS2/TiO2 heterostructure sensor showed excellent performance in detecting NO2, with a high response factor of 526% towards 1 ppm NO2 and a short response/recovery time of 43/102 s at room temperature. The decrease in surface-adsorbed oxygen content confirmed that light illumination helped in clearing the surface of SnS2/TiO2, providing more active sites for NO2 sensing. Additionally, a flexible SnS2/TiO2 sensor was fabricated to confirm its potential application in portable and wearable devices.
