Magnetic domain reversal induced by thermal activation in SmCo alloy

Zhihe Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of high temperature on the domain structure of type 2:17 SmCo alloy, revealing the presence of reverse domains and maze domains under high temperature conditions. The micromagnetic simulation results indicate that nucleation sites of the reverse domains in the alloy are at the intersection of the 2:17R phase and Zr-rich phase due to the lower pinning field of the Zr-rich phase.

Magnetization reversal mechanism for core-shell grains in GBD Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets based on in-situ domain observation

Yuqing Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents an in-situ observation of the magnetic domain structure and its dynamic evolution of core-shell structure grains in the grain-boundary diffused Nd-Fe-B magnet. It is found that the shell regions have wider domains due to higher anisotropy constant and lower saturation magnetization. The study reveals that the demagnetization process of core-shell structure exhibits a multi-step nucleation process.

Enhanced magnetic properties in chemically inhomogeneous Nd-Dy-Fe-B sintered magnets by multi-main-phase process

Xiaolian Liu et al.

Summary: Homogeneous substitution of Dy for Nd in the 2:14:1 phase can enhance coercivity but reduce remanence. A comparative study showed that multi-main-phase magnet with inhomogeneous Dy distribution has better magnetic properties and thermal stability than single-main-phase magnet with homogeneous Dy distribution. The multi-main-phase magnet exhibited higher coercivity, remanence, and energy product at room temperature and over a wide temperature range.

Sintered NdFeB magnets with Tb - Dy double-layer core/shell structure were fabricated by double alloy method and grain boundary diffusion

Toujun Zhou et al.

Summary: By using the double alloy method to fabricate a NdFeB base magnet with a Dy core-shell structure and then diffusing TbH2 on it, the coercivity was increased by 7.6 kOe with improved microstructure, forming a Tb-Dy double-layer core-shell structure. This work may provide insight for developing low heavy rare earth NdFeB magnets with high coercivity through controlling core-shell structure.

Enhancement of thermal stability of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets with tuned Tb-diffused microstructures via temperature control

Sumin Kim et al.

Summary: The magnetic properties and thermal stability of Tb-diffused Nd-Fe-B magnets were investigated, showing that diffusion temperature plays a key role in controlling thermal stability. Magnets fabricated at high diffusion temperatures exhibited good coercivity but poor thermal stability, while those prepared at lower temperatures showed the best thermal stability. The microstructure with diffused Tb atoms was found to be mainly responsible for the enhanced thermal magnetic stability in the magnets.
