Optimizing metal geometrical structure of transition metal phosphides/P doped g-C3N4 enabling boosted water splitting

Yan Wang et al.

Summary: Metal geometrical structure engineering of composite catalysts is powerful to enhance their photocatalytic performance. By loading transition metal phosphides (TMPs) on P doped g-C3N4 (PCN), catalytic performance of TMPs/PCN is optimized and a geometry-site-dependent photocatalytic hydrogen evolution is determined. Tri-metallic FeCoNiP/PCN catalysts with high occupancy of tetrahedral cobalt sites show superior photocatalytic activity compared to mono-metallic and bi-metallic TMPs/PCN, as well as Pt/b-g-C3N4 and Pt/PCN.
