Structure and electrical conductivity of 0.5CSBT-0.5BFO ceramics sintered in air and N2

Huiying Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, 0.5Ca(0.15)Sr(1.85)Bi(4)Ti(5)O(18)(CSBT)-0.5BiFeO(3)(BFO) ceramics were synthesized and the effects of different sintering atmospheres (air and N-2) on their structure and electrical conductivity were investigated. The results revealed that the 0.5CSBT-0.5BFO ceramics had a B2cb space group and an m=5 bismuth layered perovskite structure, except for the presence of Bi2O3 second phase in the air-sintered sample. The air-sintered sample exhibited a higher hole concentration compared to the N-2-sintered sample.

Modulation of the Bi3+ 6s2 Lone Pair State in Perovskites for High-Mobility p-Type Oxide Semiconductors

Jueli Shi et al.

Summary: In this study, the modulation of valence band structure for p-type oxide semiconductors Ba2BiMO6 (M = Bi, Nb, Ta) is reported by controlling the Bi 6s lone pair state, achieving high hole mobility and variable optical bandgaps. The highly dispersive valence band edges contributed by the strong coupling of Bi 6s with O 2p are found to be responsible for the high mobility. Moreover, a P-N junction diode with p-type Ba2BiTaO6 and n-type Nb-doped SrTiO3 shows high rectifying effect.

Rational design of efficient visible-light photocatalysts (1D@2D/0D) ZnO@Ni-doped BiOBr/Bi heterojunction: Considerations on hierarchical structures, doping and SPR effect

Zhouzheng Jin et al.

Summary: Simultaneously integrating heterogeneous interface, element doping, and metal decorating is an effective strategy for enhancing visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity. In this study, a facile solvothermal route was employed to synthesize Ni-doped BiOBr/Bi-0 with ZnO 3D hierarchical heterojunction (Z@B/Bi-Ni). The optimized Z@B/Bi-Ni photocatalysts exhibited remarkable catalytic performance, outperforming other photocatalysts, towards the degradation of tetracycline solution under visible light. The enhanced photocatalytic mechanism was attributed to the unique morphologies, surface plasmonic resonance effect, and Ni doping in Z@B/Bi-Ni, which were elucidated by a series of experiments, characterization, and DFT calculations. This research provides new insights for the design of hierarchical heterojunction photocatalysts.

Inner Co Synergizing Outer Ru Supported on Carbon Nanotubes for Efficient pH-Universal Hydrogen Evolution Catalysis

Jian Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly active and durable multicomponent catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was developed. The catalyst, consisting of cobalt nanoparticles confined inside bamboo-like carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and ultralow ruthenium loading on the exterior walls, exhibited exceptional HER activity. The atomic-scale structural investigations and theoretical calculations revealed that the confined inner cobalt and loaded outer ruthenium induced charge redistribution and synergistic electron coupling, optimizing the adsorption energy of H intermediates and facilitating electron/mass transfer. The results demonstrated that the Co@CNTs | Ru catalyst achieved top-level catalytic activity among all reported HER catalysts. This work provides new insights for the rational design of carbon-supported metal catalysts for practical applications.
