Transcriptomic Analysis of Morphology Regulatory Mechanisms of Microparticles to Paraisaria dubia in Submerged Fermentation

Ling-Ling Tong et al.

Summary: Liquid submerged fermentation is an effective strategy for large-scale production of active ingredients by macrofungi, but controlling mycelium morphology is a key constraint. This study used microparticles to control the morphology of P dubia in submerged fermentation, and revealed the underlying regulatory mechanisms through transcriptomics. Adding talc significantly increased the frequency of S-type pellet diameter and biomass. Transcriptome analysis showed that morphological regulation involved multiple biological processes and positively impacted the metabolism of P dubia. This provides a theoretical basis for controlling mycelium morphology and advancing macrofungal fermentation technology.

Biotechnological production of lipid and terpenoid from thraustochytrids

Fei Du et al.

Summary: Thraustochytrids, as fungus-like protists, have drawn increasing attention due to their high lipid content and rapid growth rates. They have unique pathways for high DHA yield and can serve as industrial strains for DHA production, although improving strain performance alone is not sufficient for industrialization.

Functional Analysis of an Acyltransferase-Like Domain from Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Synthase in Thraustochytrium

Carla Almendariz-Palacios et al.

Summary: The AT-like domain of the PUFA synthase in Thraustochytrium does not function as a malonyl-CoA:ACP transacylase, rather it acts as a thioesterase, potentially catalyzing the last step of VLCPUFA biosynthesis by releasing freshly synthesized VLCPUFAs attached to ACP domains of the PUFA synthase.

Function of ORFC of the polyketide synthase gene cluster on fatty acid accumulation in Schizochytrium limacinum SR21

Yanyan Shi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the function of ORFC and its domains in fatty acid accumulation using heterologous expression and overexpression. The results showed that the DH and ER domains played distinct roles in lipid accumulation in Schizochytrium limacinum SR21, with DH domain crucial for PUFA synthesis and ER domain potentially related to SFA synthesis. Metabolic and transcriptomic analysis indicated potential genetic modification strategies for improving lipid production and regulating PUFA and SFA content.
