Insights on macro- and microscopic interactions between Confidor and cyclodextrin-based nanosponges

Gianluca Utzeri et al.

Summary: In this study, porous materials based on cyclodextrin nanosponges (CDNSs) were developed for the efficient removal of imidacloprid. Results showed that the sorption performance of CDNSs for imidacloprid can be significantly modulated by adding various features, which has important implications for the rational design of supramolecular materials with high sorption capacity for pesticides.

Supramolecular poloxamer-based in situ gels with hyaluronic acid and cyclodextrins

Sevgi Secer et al.

Summary: Mechanically enhanced poloxamer (F127)-based injectable hydrogels in the presence of hyaluronic acid (HA) and three types of cyclodextrin (CD) molecules were prepared in this study. The addition of HA and CD molecules improved the performance of the gels, making them more mucoadhesive.

Hyaluronic Acid in Biomedical Fields: New Trends from Chemistry to Biomaterial Applications

Antonia Di Mola et al.

Summary: The aim of this review is to provide an updated perspective on the methods for modifying hyaluronic acid (HA) chemically, and its potential applications in medical devices and material engineering. The review starts with a brief introduction to the chemical, structural, and biological features of HA, and then proceeds to discuss the most important methods for chemical and physical modifications, including the formation of new covalent bonds and the interaction with other natural polysaccharides. The use of HA in the development of new materials through additive manufacturing techniques such as electrospinning and three-dimensional bioprinting is also explored.

Hyaluronic acid-cyclodextrin encapsulating paeonol for treatment of atopic dermatitis

Yuling Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, cyclodextrin was grafted onto hyaluronic acid to form a topical delivery carrier for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. The results showed that the carrier could penetrate into the skin quickly and remain stable. In vitro penetration test demonstrated improved drug retention in the stratum corneum and dermis. The carrier was found to interact with corneum lipids, promoting drug penetration.

Host-guest paracetamol/cyclodextrin complex formation evaluated from coupled diffusion measurements

Ana C. F. Ribeiro et al.

Summary: Ternary mutual diffusion coefficients were measured for aqueous solutions of paracetamol in the presence of beta-cyclodextrin at 298.15 K, showing coupled diffusion and interactions between the drug and carbohydrate. The measured diffusion coefficients closely matched the predicted values from a model assuming a 1:1 complex, with an association constant of 27 mole per cubic decimeter estimated from the data.

Effect of Hofmeister Ions on Transport Properties of Aqueous Solutions of Sodium Hyaluronate

Lenka Musilova et al.

Summary: Tracer diffusion coefficients of sodium hyaluronate were measured at 25.0 degrees C with the influence of different salts at varying concentrations. The study showed a salting-in effect with an increase in ionic strength, while the opposite salting-out effect was observed with certain salts at higher concentrations, such as NH4SCN at 0.1 mol dm(-3). These findings, combined with viscosity measurements, provide insights into the transport behavior of NaHy in the presence of different salts.

β-Cyclodextrin-grafted hyaluronic acid as a supramolecular polysaccharide carrier for cell-targeted drug delivery

Parbeen Singh et al.

Summary: 13-Cyclodextrin was grafted onto hyaluronic acid in a single step to create a supramolecular biopolymer, HA-13-CD, which showed high loading capacity for drugs doxorubicin and Rhodamine B. The polymer also exhibited targeted drug delivery to cancerous cells with a high level of CD44 receptor expression, potentially making it a promising cancer-cell-targeting drug carrier.
