Systematic analysis of the mechanism of aged citrus peel (Chenpi) in oral squamous cell carcinoma treatment via network pharmacology, molecular docking and experimental validation

Zhenyuan Yu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential mechanisms of aged citrus peel (CP) in the treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) using network pharmacology. Tangeretin was identified as the most crucial active ingredient in CP. Further analysis revealed core genes and essential pathways, and in vitro experiments demonstrated that tangeretin inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis.

Network Pharmacology and In Vitro Experimental Verification Reveal the Mechanism of the Hirudin in Suppressing Myocardial Hypertrophy

Mengnan Liu et al.

Summary: Using network pharmacology and experimental validation, this study revealed the potential mechanisms of hirudin in the treatment of myocardial hypertrophy. The results showed that hirudin may treat myocardial hypertrophy by inhibiting blood coagulation, vesicle lumen, and signaling pathway activity, with the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway being the most relevant to hirudin's therapeutic effect. Molecular docking experiments further confirmed the binding of hirudin to STAT3, IL-6, and MAPK1, providing a basis for its inhibitory effect on myocardial hypertrophy. In vitro experiments also supported the inhibitory effect of hirudin on myocardial hypertrophy.

Protective effect of oral histidine on hypertension in Dahl salt-sensitive rats induced by high-salt diet

Pengfei Yang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that oral administration of histidine could alleviate salt-sensitive hypertension and kidney damage by improving metabolic patterns, reducing Reactive Oxygen Species, and increasing nitric oxide levels in Dahl salt-sensitive rats.

Endothelial GTPCH (GTP Cyclohydrolase 1) and Tetrahydrobiopterin Regulate Gestational Blood Pressure, Uteroplacental Remodeling, and Fetal Growth

Surawee Chuaiphichai et al.

Summary: Abnormal uteroplacental remodeling resulting from maternal endothelial BH4 deficiency can lead to hypertension and fetal growth restriction during pregnancy. Supplementing with reduced folates can restore endothelial BH4 levels, reduce blood pressure, and normalize fetal growth, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for pregnancy-related hypertension like preeclampsia.

Urinary metabonomics study of anti-depressive mechanisms of Millettia speciosa Champ on rats with chronic unpredictable mild stress-induced depression

Chi Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that MSC has antidepressant effects and can significantly improve depression induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress. Nine potential biomarkers for depression were identified through urine metabolomics, and the metabolic pathways associated with the efficacy of MSC were explored. Through the integration of metabolomics with pharmacodynamics, L-isoleucine, sebacic acid, and allantoin were identified as potential pharmacodynamic biomarkers associated with the efficacy of MSC.

Resistance exercise shifts the balance of renin-angiotensin system toward ACE2/Ang 1-7 axis and reduces inflammation in the kidney of diabetic rats

Ralmony de Alcantara Santos et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the effects of resistance training on renal renin-angiotensin system components and inflammatory mediators in diabetic rats. The results showed that resistance training improved kidney function in diabetic rats by modulating intrarenal RAS towards the ACE2/Ang 1-7 axis and reducing inflammatory cytokines levels.

Canonical Wnt signaling in the kidney in different hypertension models

Irena Kasacka et al.

Summary: The study revealed alterations in Wnt/beta-catenin signaling in the kidneys of rats during hypertension, with the severity of these changes depending on the type of hypertension. This study is the first to assess the levels of some elements of the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin signal transduction pathway in various types of arterial hypertension by immunohistochemistry, and may lead to further molecular and functional studies of this pathway in hypertension.
