Efficient L-Proline catalyzed synthesis of some new (4-substituted-phenyl)-1,5-dihydro-2H-pyrimido[4,5-d][1,3]thiazolo[3,2a]-pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-diones bearing thiazolopyrimidine derivatives and evaluation of their pharmacological activities

S. H. Sukanya et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple and efficient method was developed to synthesize a series of new compounds, which were evaluated for in vitro cytotoxicity and anti-inflammatory effects. The results indicated that some compounds showed potential cytotoxic effects and significant anti-inflammatory effects, and the structure-activity relationship study highlighted the influence of electron-withdrawing groups on compound activity.

Design, Synthesis, and Bioevaluation of Indole Core Containing 2-Arylidine Derivatives of Thiazolopyrimidine as Multitarget Inhibitors of Cholinesterases and Monoamine Oxidase A/B for the Treatment of Alzheimer Disease

Muhammad Shahid Nadeem et al.

Summary: In this study, we synthesized and evaluated a series of 2-arylidine derivatives of thiazolopyrimidine for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The compounds showed excellent inhibition potential against cholinesterases and monoamine oxidase isoforms. In particular, compounds 25 and 36 exhibited the strongest inhibition against MAO-B. The compounds were also found to be safe and non-neurotoxic.

Synthesis, Self-Assembly in Crystalline Phase and Anti-Tumor Activity of 2-(2-/4-Hydroxybenzylidene)thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidines

Artem S. Agarkov et al.

Summary: A series of thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine derivatives with different aryl substituents were synthesized and characterized. The study found that the crystallization process in different solvents resulted in different supramolecular architectures of the derivatives, depending on intermolecular H-bonding. Furthermore, the derivatives showed high cytotoxicity against tumor cells and moderate cytotoxicity against normal cells.

Summary: For a wide range of epoxy compounds, interaction with triphenylphosphonium triflate shows high chemoselectivity, resulting in the formation of (2-hydroxypropyl)triphenylphosphonium triflates substituted at the 3-position with various groups. The obtained phosphonium salts exhibit high antitumor activity and potential for targeted delivery into the mitochondria of tumor cells, making them promising new vectors.
