Improved pechini sol-gel fabrication of Li2B4O7/NiO/Ni3(BO3)2 nanocomposites to advanced photocatalytic performance

Makarim A. Mahdi et al.

Summary: Nano-scaled Li2B4O7/NiO/Ni-3(BO3)(2) (LiBNi) composites were successfully fabricated through an improved pechini sol-gel method for the removal of dye contaminations from drinking water under UV/Visible irradiation. Different complexing agents were utilized to optimize the properties of LiBNi nanocomposites, and the obtained nanocomposites were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, FT-IR, and EDX. The band-gap of LiBNi nanocomposites was calculated as 3.35 eV based on UV-Vis data. The photocatalytic degradation of Li2B4O7/NiO/Ni-3(BO3)(2) nanocomposites was examined for the removal of acid red 88 pollutant from aqueous solution. The study evaluated the effects of nanocatalyst concentration and irradiation type on the removal of drinking water contaminants.

Synthesis and characterization of carbon sphere-supported sand-rose like N-GQDs/NiCo2S4 structures with synergetic effect for development of hydrogen storage capacity

Maryam Masjedi-Arani et al.

Summary: Porous carbon spheres decorated with NiCo2S4/Co9S8/CoS and N-doped graphene quantum dots were synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal route. The hydrogen storage capacity of different Ni-Co sulfide structures was evaluated and the results showed that the 3D microspheres with sand-rose shaped NCS nanostructures exhibited high efficiency in electrochemical hydrogen storage, due to the prominent electro-conductivity of N-GQDs and CSs carbonic materials.
