Effects of injection strategies on thermal performance of a novel micro planar combustor fueled by hydrogen

Wei Zuo et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel micro planar combustor with multi inlets and outlets was designed for thermophotovoltaic applications. The effects of injection strategies on the thermal performance of the combustor fueled by hydrogen were analyzed and discussed. It was found that different injection strategies resulted in different flame patterns and interactions, which had implications on flame stabilization. The study also examined the influence of inlet velocity, hydrogen/air equivalence ratio, and solid wall materials on the thermal performance of the combustor under different injection strategies, and determined the application conditions. This research provides significant insights for micro-thermophotovoltaic applications.

Multi-objective optimization of mini U-channel cold plate with SiO2 nanofluid by RSM and NSGA-II

Jing Li et al.

Summary: A multi-objective optimization study of a mini U-channel cold plate with SiO2 nanofluid was conducted using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II). Numerical investigations were performed to optimize design variables and objective functions, with analysis of variance used to verify the reliability of the regression models. The optimal design parameters and performance indicators were obtained through Pareto optimal solution.

Performance comparison between straight channel cold plate and inclined channel cold plate for thermal management of a prismatic LiFePO4 battery

Yuntian Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, an inclined channel cold plate was designed for a LiFePO4 battery in an electric vehicle, and its performance was compared with that of a straight channel cold plate under different conditions. The results showed that the inclined channel cold plate outperformed the straight channel cold plate, and the performance improved with a larger inclined angle. This study suggests that the inclined channel cold plate is more suitable for battery thermal management systems.

Numerical investigations on thermal performance and flame stability of hydrogen-fueled micro tube combustor with injector for thermophotovoltaic applications

Wei Zuo et al.

Summary: This study compares the thermal performance and flame stability of hydrogen-fueled micro tube combustors with backward facing step and with injector. The effects of diameter ratio on thermal performance and flame stability are analyzed and discussed. The results show that decreasing the diameter ratio can improve fluid and heat circulation, but it is not helpful for flame stabilization. However, the injector can enhance the thermal performance and improve flame stability under lower hydrogen/air equivalence ratio.

Assessing initial conditions and ETS outcomes in a fossil-fuel dependent economy

Peter Howie et al.

Summary: This article analyzes the energy market and ETS outcomes in Kazakhstan, revealing that despite the implementation of the ETS, the country's CO2 emissions and CO2 emissions intensity in the power sector continue to grow. To improve the effectiveness of the ETS, it is important to prioritize stakeholder engagement, address deficiencies in carbon allowance allocation and trading, and enhance the carbon cost pass through mechanism. Additionally, formulating and implementing a comprehensive low-carbon transition strategy should help improve ETS outcomes.
