Mechanism study on the high-performance BaFe2O4 during chemical looping gasification

Rong Sun et al.

Summary: The research aims to elucidate the reaction mechanisms of BaFe2O4 with solid carbon (C) and carbon monoxide (CO) during chemical looping gasification process. It was found that BaFe2O4 is more active in solid-solid reaction while Fe2O3 performs better in solid-gas reaction. The study suggests that BaFe2O4 has potential in CLG process due to its stronger surface activity and weaker lattice oxygen migration ability compared to Fe2O3.

Hydrogen-rich syngas production by the three-dimensional structure of LaNiO3 catalyst from a blend of acetic acid and acetone as a bio-oil model compound

Chenlong Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the conversion of biomass bio-oil to hydrogen using a blend of acetic acid and acetone as a model compound. The 3D-LaNiO3 catalyst synthesized by a silica template method is found to have smaller crystal size and higher oxygen vacancies, enhancing its redox ability and resistance to coke deposition. The catalyst shows great activity in producing hydrogen-rich syngas, with the highest H2 gas yield observed at 600 degrees C and a steam/carbon mole ratio of 3. The stability of the perovskite structure and its ability to resist coke deposition contribute to the sustained catalytic activity.

Summary: Sustainable energy resources offer a solution to the increasing energy demand caused by population growth and national development. Converting biomass waste into energy through thermochemical processing methods has environmental advantages and increased energy efficiency. This review focuses on the production of gaseous fuel, specifically syngas, from the co-conversion of biomass with other waste. Results indicate that mixing coal with biomass reduces emissions and increases gas yields.

Chenlong Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, iron-based oxygen carriers modified by different ratios of Ca were prepared via the sol-gel method. The hydrogen production performance of these carriers in a fixed-bed system was investigated by reacting them with biomass char. The results showed that the CaFe2O4 sample exhibited excellent hydrogen yield at specific temperature and ratio, and maintained stable performance after cycling experiments.

Summary: In this study, Fe2O3-based oxygen carriers using MgAl2O4, Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9, and Zr0.8Y0.2O1.9 as supports for chemical looping hydrogen generation were examined. Fe2O3/Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 showed superior performance with high hydrogen yield and stability at 750 degrees C, while Fe2O3/Zr0.8Y0.2O1.9 had higher hydrogen yield at 850 degrees C. Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 exhibited the highest oxygen vacancy concentration, enhancing the hydrogen yield, but also led to decreased oxygen capacity at higher temperatures.
