Nonlinear variable band gap of reduced graphene oxide examined by in-situ absorption spectrum and light response

Lirong Gong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between oxygen group and band gap in reduced graphene oxide (RGO). The results show that the reduction of oxygen group strongly depends on the annealing temperature, leading to a nonlinear variable band gap. The nonlinear photoelectric response of RGO light detective device further confirms this trend. Our work provides a pathway for the application of RGO in electronic fields.

A modified sequential gradient-based method for the inverse estimation of transient heat transfer coefficients in non-linear one-dimensional heat conduction problems

Benjamin A. Tourn et al.

Summary: This study introduces an online sequential implementation of a gradient-based method for reconstructing transient heat transfer coefficients in the context of non-linear one-dimensional heat conduction problems, denoted as the sequential quasi-Newton method (SQNM). The proposed method is fast, robust, and reliable, demonstrating its suitability for reconstructing transient heat transfer coefficients in one- and two-dimensional non-linear heat conduction problems as a novel alternative strategy to other online inverse estimation procedures.

Assessment of thermo-mechanical fatigue in a nickel-based single-crystal superalloy CMSX-4 accounting for temperature gradient effects

Jingyu Sun et al.

Summary: The study shows that the lifetime of nickel-based single-crystal superalloy CMSX-4 under thermo-mechanical fatigue and thermal gradient mechanical fatigue loading conditions is significantly affected by temperature gradient. Conventional fatigue models fail to accurately describe this, emphasizing the need to consider temperature gradient and thermal-mechanical phase angle effects.

Unsteady convective heat transfer from a flat plate with heat flux that varies in space and time

Amirhossein Mostafavi et al.

Summary: This study addresses convective heat transfer on a flat plate where heat flux varies both spatially and temporally, deriving an analytical solution for plate temperature distribution. The approach involves the use of fourth-order Karman-Pohlhausen polynomials and integral form of the energy equation to obtain a non-linear, first order, hyperbolic partial differential equation. Numerical solutions are provided for various heat flux profiles of interest in practical applications, contributing to the understanding and optimization of engineering systems.
