A Systematic Review of the Incidence, Prevalence, Costs, and Activity and Work Limitations of Amputation, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Back Pain, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, and Traumatic Brain Injury in the United States: A 2019 Update

Jessica Lo et al.

Summary: Back pain and osteoarthritis are the most prevalent and costly conditions, contributing significantly to all-cause medical costs. Other conditions, although with lower prevalence or cost, have relatively higher per capita costs and impact on activity and work. The data is heterogeneous, making detailed comparisons challenging and further information necessary to determine the relative impact of each condition.

Association between traffic-related air pollution and hospital readmissions for rheumatoid arthritis in Hefei, China: A time-series study

Qian Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the short-term association between traffic-related air pollutants and hospital readmissions for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Hefei, China. Results showed that high-concentration PM2.5 and NO2 were associated with increased risk of RA readmissions, with females, the elderly, and cold seasons being more vulnerable. Protective measures should be taken to reduce recurrence risk, especially in these vulnerable populations and during cold seasons.
