Novel polymer electrolyte derived from diazonaphthone monomers for an aqueous supercapacitor with high cell potential and superior safety

Zhe Wang et al.

Summary: Supercapacitors have attracted significant attention due to their high-power density and long cycle life. However, the increasing demand has posed new challenges of flexibility and safety. In this study, a novel electrolyte is prepared by combining a polymer with a rigid main chain and a flexible side chain as a support matrix. Compared to liquid and conventional solid polymer electrolytes, it exhibits more stable thermomechanical properties and mechanical strength, as well as a high ionic conductivity and extended electrochemical window. As a result, the assembled symmetric supercapacitors show acceptable electrochemical performance, suggesting the potential of this novel strategy for practical applications.
