Comparative analysis in different organs and tissue-specific metabolite profiling of Atractylodes lancea from four regions by GC-MS and laser microdissection

Rui Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, the volatile oils of different organs of Atractylodes lancea from four regions of China were analyzed and quantified using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that the volatile oil components and their quantities varied among different organs. Atractylodes lancea was classified into Dabieshan and Maoshan types based on the content of volatile oils, and their major components also differed. Tissue-specific analysis revealed the distribution of specific components in different parts of Atractylodes lancea. This study provides a foundation for further evaluation and utilization of Atractylodes lancea.

Tissue-specific transcriptome and metabolome analyses reveal a gene module regulating the terpenoid biosynthesis in Curcuma wenyujin

Chengxi Jiang et al.

Summary: This study identified key genes involved in terpenoid biosynthesis in Curcuma wenyujin through coexpression networks and combined transcriptome and metabolome analyses. A total of 250 terpenoids were identified in different tissues, showing tissue-specific accumulation patterns. The proposed TBS pathway starting from cytosolic mevalonate was supported by gene-terpenoid relationships and subcellular localization validation. The study provides new insights into TBS in C. wenyujin and identifies elite candidate genes for metabolic engineering in novel hosts.
