Neuropeptide Y attenuates cardiac remodeling and deterioration of function following myocardial infarction

Yu-Yan Qin et al.

Summary: Neuropeptide Y plays an important role in attenuating acute myocardial infarction by inhibiting cardiac inflammation and fibrosis, enhancing angiogenesis, and reducing apoptosis.

Weight Loss and Short-Chain Fatty Acids Reduce Systemic Inflammation in Monocytes and Adipose Tissue Macrophages from Obese Subjects

Shaun Eslick et al.

Summary: Weight loss and ex vivo short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) treatments were found to successfully attenuate systemic inflammation in obese individuals. These treatments not only reduced the production of inflammatory cytokines, but also altered the expression of certain genes.

Blockade of the Notch Signaling Pathway Promotes M2 Macrophage Polarization to Suppress Cardiac Fibrosis Remodeling in Mice With Myocardial Infarction

Zhi Li et al.

Summary: This study found that blocking the Notch signaling pathway can promote M2 polarization of cardiac macrophages, improve cardiac function, and inhibit the imbalance of fibrotic remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI).

Farrerol Alleviates Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury by Targeting Macrophages and NLRP3

Lin Zhou et al.

Summary: This study found that farrerol (FA) has a protective effect against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury by alleviating myocardial damage, reducing inflammation, and regulating oxidative stress. The study also revealed that FA inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome activation by interfering with NLRP3 and NEK7. These findings suggest the potential use of FA as an immunomodulator in clinical therapy for myocardial I/R, and support the targeted macrophage therapy for myocardial I/R.

The short-chain fatty acid propionate improved ventricular electrical remodeling in a rat model with myocardial infarction

Mingmin Zhou et al.

Summary: The study found that propionate can prolong cardiac repolarization, reduce arrhythmias, and alleviate cardiac electrophysiological instability by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. This may be achieved through the gut-brain axis.
