Metformin and fluoxetine improve depressive-like behavior in a murine model of Parkinsons disease through the modulation of neuroinflammation, neurogenesis and neuroplasticity

Ingrid Prata Mendonca et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of metformin and fluoxetine in an experimental model of Parkinson's disease. The results showed that metformin and fluoxetine can prevent depressive symptoms, improve motor impairment, and have anti-inflammatory, neurogenic, and neuroplasticity-inducing effects. The combined treatment of these two drugs can enhance these effects.

Gastrodin Attenuates Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Inflammatory Response and Migration via the Notch-1 Signaling Pathway in Activated Microglia

Yue-yi Yao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that Gastrodin exerts anti-inflammatory effects by regulating the Notch-1 signaling pathway in LPS-induced microglia activation. This finding provides a new biological target for the treatment of neuroinflammatory disorders.

Summary: This study reveals the treatment resistance mechanism and brain functional changes in Wistar-Kyoto rats as a model of treatment-resistant depression. The findings suggest that citalopram has only partial effects on these functional changes.

Requirement of hippocampal DG nNOS-CAPON dissociation for the anxiolytic and antidepressant effects of fluoxetine

Hu-Jiang Shi et al.

Summary: The study found that fluoxetine modifies mood behaviors and hippocampal neuroplasticity by disrupting the nNOS-CAPON interaction, which is associated with postsynaptic 5-HT1AR activation.

Gastrodin Regulates the Notch Signaling Pathway and Sirt3 in Activated Microglia in Cerebral Hypoxic-Ischemia Neonatal Rats and in Activated BV-2 Microglia

Jing Guo et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that gastrodin regulated microglia activation through modulation of the Notch signaling pathway and Sirt3 expression. Inhibition of the Notch pathway suppressed Sirt3 expression, suggesting Sirt3 is downstream of Notch. The findings indicate a synergistic regulation of microglia activation by Notch and Sirt3, particularly in TNF-alpha production.
