A case study on thermo-hydraulic performance of jet plate solar air heater using response surface methodology

Mahalingam Murugesan Matheswaran et al.

Summary: In this study, the multi-hole jet impingement approach was used to improve the performance of the jet plate solar air heater by enhancing the heat transfer coefficient between the absorber plate and the impinging air. The system's usefulness was analyzed and the effects of airflow rate, length of the collector, jet diameter, pitch distances, and spanwise directions on thermo-hydraulic efficiency were investigated using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). A quadratic equation was generated to predict the thermohydraulic efficiency. The results showed optimized design parameters for the airflow rate, collector length, jet diameter, stream-wise pitch distance, and span-wise pitch distance.

A comprehensive uncertainty analysis of model-estimated longitudinal and lateral dispersion coefficients in open channels

Mohammad Najafzadeh et al.

Summary: The complexity of pollutant-mixing mechanism in rivers leads to large uncertainty in estimating longitudinal and lateral dispersion coefficients (K-x and K-y). By introducing a method based on thorough analysis of calibration datasets, it was found that different intelligent models have varying levels of uncertainty in K-x and K-y estimation. Incorporating uncertainty determination methods into empirical studies is suggested due to significant uncertainty in model estimations.
