Sequential multiple-target chemosensor: Co2+, Cu2+, PPi, and HS- discrimination by a bis(half-salamo)-type probe

Guo-Hua Liu et al.

Summary: A chemosensor L-PBHS, based on phenanthroline, can continuously identify multiple targets by utilizing N3O cavities to bind with metal cations and further identifying anions. The strong fluorescence of the chemosensor L-PBHS can be observed under 365 nm UV light, with luminescence quenching occurring after the introduction of Cu2+ and Co2+. The identification of HS- and PPi is achieved through fluorescence recovery on a test strip after Cu2+ detection, providing a rapid and efficient detection method.

A dual-signal half-salamo-based sensing platform for simultaneous colorimetric and fluoremetric detection of Fe3+ and reversible recognition of OH- ions

Li-Li Man et al.

Summary: A facile bifunctional half-salamo-based sensor NQS was developed for the simultaneous detection of Fe3+ and OH- ions using colorimetric and fluoremetric dual-signal sensing mode. Binding with Fe3+ resulted in the quenching of blue fluorescence signal of NQS and a distinct color change from colorless to yellow. On encountering OH-, the deprotonation of phenolic hydroxyl group of NQS led to the enhancement of green fluorescence signal and an instantaneous color change from colorless to bright yellow. Moreover, the addition of H+ could convert the colorimetric and fluoremetric sensing process of OH- by NQS.
