A magnetic heterogeneous nanocatalyst was synthesized using a dioxomolybdenum(VI) Schiff base complex, and its structure and characteristics were analyzed using various techniques. The nanocatalyst showed great catalytic potential for sulfoxidation, and it could be easily recovered using an external magnetic field without significant loss of activity after multiple cycles.
In the present work, a magnetic heterogeneous nanocatalyst is prepared using a dioxomolybdenum(VI) Schiff base complex. The synthesized supported nanocatalyst was characterized with the help of different techniques like FT-IR, XRD, VSM, EDS, SEM, TEM, and ICP. After the validation of structure, size, and morphology, the molybdenum-based nanocatalyst was screened for its catalytic potential for sulfoxidation employing H2O2 and ethanol under optimum reaction conditions. The main advantage of the present work is the recovery of magnetic nanocatalyst under the influence of an applied external magnetic field. The recovered nanocatalyst was further tested to monitor the change in its effectiveness, and it was found that there was no significant decrease in its activity after completing several catalytic cycles.
