Flexible Cuprous Triazolate Frameworks as Highly Stable and Efficient Electrocatalysts for CO2 Reduction with Tunable C2H4/CH4 Selectivity

Lin-Ling Zhuo et al.

Summary: Flexible Cu(I) triazolate frameworks have been developed as efficient and stable electrocatalysts for CO2 reduction. By changing the size of the ligand side groups, the selectivity ratio of C2H4/CH4 can be tuned and inverted, leading to high selectivities of C2H4, CH4, and hydrocarbons. Computational simulations revealed the structural changes and cooperative interactions of Cu(I) during the reaction, and the ligand side groups played a critical role in controlling catalyst flexibility and selectivity.

Quasi-Covalently Coupled Ni-Cu Atomic Pair for Synergistic Electroreduction of CO2

Jianbing Zhu et al.

Summary: Through theoretical screening, researchers successfully improved the catalytic performance of CO2RR by utilizing a novel Ni-Cu atomic pair configuration for the first time, achieving high efficiency in converting CO2 into carbon. Systematic characterizations and theoretical modeling revealed the inactivity of Cu towards the competing hydrogen evolution reaction and the promoting effect of Ni-Cu atomic pair on CO2RR activity.

Key to C2 production: selective C-C coupling for electrochemical CO2 reduction on copper alloy surfaces

Xing Zhi et al.

Summary: The C-C coupling kinetics on Cu alloys with Pt, Pd, or Au surface sites show variations, with OC-COH coupling being more favorable than OC-CHO coupling due to increased reactivity of adsorbed *CO species. Linear energy relations for C-C association/dissociation could simplify the energetic evaluation for C-2 production.

Microenvironment Modulation in Metal-Organic Framework-Based Catalysis

Long Jiao et al.

Summary: The design and regulation of catalysts' microenvironment are critical for catalysis development. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have precise and tunable structures, making them an ideal platform for controlling the microenvironment surrounding catalytic sites. The unique advantages of MOFs create opportunities for enhanced catalytic performance through microenvironment modulation in heterogeneous catalysis.
