Rheological improvement of TiO2 nanoparticles modified by dicarboxylic acids

I. Montes-Zavala et al.

Summary: This research focuses on improving the colloidal stability of titanium dioxide (TiO2) through surface chemical modification using variable chain dicarboxylic acids. The organic coating was characterized using various techniques, and the integration of modified nanoparticles was found to improve regardless of the chain length of the coating. The study also evaluated the dispersion, rheological behavior, and colloidal stability using light techniques and mathematical models.

Fabrication of ternary Ag/La-black TiO2-x photocatalyst with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity for tetracycline degradation

Chen Li et al.

Summary: The ternary Ag/La-TiO2-x heterojunctions were successfully prepared for photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline under visible light irradiation. The as-prepared composites showed excellent visible-light photocatalytic activity due to higher photoinduced charge separation efficiency. The mechanism of photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline by Ag/La-TiO2-x composites was discussed, highlighting the significant potential applications in energy conversion and environmental remediation.

TiO2-Acetylacetone as an Efficient Source of Superoxide Radicals under Reduced Power Visible Light: Photocatalytic Degradation of Chlorophenol and Tetracycline

Lucas A. Almeida et al.

Summary: Visible light-sensitive TiO2-based nanomaterials have been extensively studied for photocatalytic applications. In this study, the thermogravimetric analyses coupled with mass spectroscopy (TGA-MS) were performed on TiO2-Acetylacetone (ACAC) charge transfer complexes. It was found that TiO2-A300 exhibited high efficiency in the photocatalytic degradation of chlorophenol and tetracycline under low power visible light, with the involvement of reactive oxidizing species (ROS).

Role of Oxygen Vacancy in the Photocarrier Dynamics of WO3 Photocatalysts: The Case of Recombination Centers

Kosaku Kato et al.

Summary: Defects in powder photocatalysts have a significant impact on their photocatalytic activity. The presence of oxygen vacancies in WO3 was found to act as recombination centers, accelerating the decay of deeply trapped electrons. However, the effect of oxygen vacancies on carrier dynamics differs among various photocatalysts. The distance between defects plays an important role in determining the enhancement or reduction in photocatalytic activity.

Black TiO2 Nanotube Array/BiVO4 Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Tetracycline Removal with High Solution Detoxification Efficiency

Amir Mirzaei et al.

Summary: This study used pulsed laser deposition to vary the BiVO4 content on the outermost surface of black TiO2 nanotube arrays and compared the optimal heterojunction sample with bare TiO2 nanotubes. The results showed that the optimal heterojunction sample had higher photocatalytic activity and removal efficiency of antibiotics. The main degradation pathways of antibiotics were identified as demethylation and oxidation, and the toxicity change after treatment was also evaluated.

An Overview of Antibiotics as Emerging Contaminants: Occurrence in Bivalves as Biomonitoring Organisms

Elena Baralla et al.

Summary: This review discusses the increasing use of antibiotics globally and their accumulation in the environment as contaminants of emerging concern. Bivalves are proposed as biomonitoring organisms for antibiotic residues due to their global presence and filtration capacity. Studies have shown antibiotics presence in bivalves across European, American, and Asian coasts, with notable detection of macrolides, sulfonamides, and quinolones. Further investigations are needed to prevent antimicrobial resistance and reduce the risk of seafood consumption.

Novel visible-light-responsive Black-TiO2/CoTiO3 Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst with efficient photocatalytic performance for the degradation of different organic dyes and tetracycline

Mitra Mousavi et al.

Summary: A novel visible-light-responsive Z-Scheme heterojunction photocatalyst B-TiO2/CTO was successfully synthesized, showing high photocatalytic efficiency in degrading dyes and pharmaceutical contaminants compared to traditional B-TiO2 and CTO. The enhanced activity of the nanocomposite was attributed to more generation, separation, and transport of charge carriers, as well as an increase in specific surface area after the combination of B-TiO2 and CTO.
