Nematicidal, antifungal and insecticidal activities of Artemisia halodendron extracts: New polyacetylenes involved

Hai-bo Wu et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the nematicidal, antifungal, and insecticidal effects of extracts from different organs of Artemisia halodendron, with polyacetylenes being identified as the main contributors to biological activities. Microwave-assisted extraction was found to be the most effective method for extracting polyacetylenes, leading to the isolation of new compounds with significant nematicidal, antifungal, and insecticidal activities. These findings suggest great potential for the application of A. halodendron and its polyacetylenes in the pesticide industry.

Macrotyloma axillare 'Java' and Crotalaria spp. combined with biocontrol agents for the management of Meloidogyne javanica in soybean

Angelica Miamoto et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of crop rotation and biocontrol treatments on controlling Meloidogyne javanica in soybean. Results showed that both rotation crops and green manure treatments, as well as biocontrol measures, were effective in reducing nematode populations. Combining certain rotation crops with specific biocontrol agents increased soil metabolic activity, but overall, the combination did not significantly enhance the reduction in nematode populations.

Influence of Meloidogyne javanica parasitism on soybean development and chemical composition

Carla Marcondes Castanheira et al.

Summary: The study found that the level of Meloidogyne javanica inoculum significantly affected soybean growth, grain production, yield, composition, and antioxidant capacity. Plants free of nematodes showed lower vegetative growth and higher yield than nematode-infected plants. The content of various nutrients and antioxidants in soybean grains changed with the increasing nematode inoculum levels.

Phaseolin Induction on Common-Bean Cultivars and Biological Control of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum 89 Race by Baccharis trimera (Less.) Dc

Mario Cezar Pozza Junior et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the fungitoxic effect of Baccharis trimera aqueous extracts on Colletotrichum lindemuthianum mycelial growth and phaseolin accumulation in bean plant hypocotyls. Results showed that the plant extracts had a certain antifungal effect, but had a relatively small impact on phaseolin production.

Enhanced biological control of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, by combined inoculation of cotton or soybean seeds with a plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium and pectin-rich orange peel

Mohammad K. Hassan et al.

Summary: LC-MS analysis showed that Bacillus velezensis AP203 produces nematode-inhibiting compounds when grown on orange peel, resulting in a significant reduction in nematode numbers and promotion of plant growth, as evidenced by increased root length and weight.

Effects of sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) and Mexican sunflower (Tithonia diversifolia) leaf extracts on the development of Meloidogyne incognita on African indigenous vegetables

Leonard Uzoma Amulu et al.

Summary: The study found that extracts of sunn hemp and Mexican sunflower at 40 g leaf tissues/L water significantly reduced nematode number and corresponding damage indicators, while the 20 g leaf tissues/L water treatment and untreated control group had no significant effects.
