Facile control of surface properties in CeO2-promoted Mn/TiO2 catalyst for low-temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH3

Min-Jae Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, the surface properties and performance of CeO2-promoted Mn/TiO2 catalysts in the low-temperature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO by NH3 were investigated by changing the impregnation sequence of Mn and Ce. The results showed that the co-impregnated catalyst had higher NO conversion and improved metal dispersion, providing more adsorption sites. Additionally, the acidity of the catalyst could be controlled by changing the synthesis method.

Fluorinated TiO2 coupling with α-MnO2 nanowires supported on different substrates for photocatalytic VOCs abatement under vacuum ultraviolet irradiation

Yingguang Zhang et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigates the role of fluorine doping in the photocatalytic activity of nanocrystalline titanium dioxide (TiO2), finding that F-TiO2 catalysts exhibit significantly higher toluene degradation efficiency compared to TiO2 and commercial P25 under VUV irradiation. Furthermore, the addition of a small amount of α-MnO2 increases the toluene degradation efficiency to 96% and eliminates residual O3, offering a promising strategy for VOCs abatement in industrial applications through the exploration of different substrates for catalyst coating.

Insights into the Reactive and Deactivation Mechanisms of Manganese Oxides for Ozone Elimination: The Roles of Surface Oxygen Species

Lei Zhang et al.

Summary: Manganese oxides with varied Mn valence states but identical morphologies were successfully synthesized using a simple thermal treatment method. Among them, MnO2-H-200 showed superior ozone decomposition capacity, which was strongly associated with abundant oxygen vacancies on its surface. By combining various characterization techniques, the different O3 decomposition efficiencies among Mn3O4, Mn2O3, and MnO2 were found to be dependent on the nature of oxygen vacancies present.

Photocatalytic ethylbenzene degradation associated with ozone (TiO2/UV/O3) under different percentages of catalytic coating area: Evaluation of process parameters

Larissa Albuquerque Silva Saldanha et al.

Summary: This study investigated the degradation of gas-phase ethylbenzene using TiO2/UV/O-3 process and found that this combination significantly enhanced ethylbenzene removal, especially under high humidity conditions. The optimal conditions for ethylbenzene removal were determined to be 130 seconds, 70% TiO2 coating area, and 5.5% ozone concentration.

Synergetic effect of vacuum ultraviolet photolysis and ozone catalytic oxidation for toluene degradation over MnO2-rGO composite catalyst

Muyan Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, the degradation of toluene using MnO2-rGO composite samples in a system consisting of VUV photolysis and ozone catalytic oxidation was investigated. The composite sample exhibited superior performance due to its adsorption activity and moderated MnO2 loading. The generation of hydroxyl radicals and superoxide radicals were confirmed to contribute to toluene degradation.

Using the Interaction between Copper and Manganese to Stabilize Copper Single-atom for CO Oxidation.

Mingzhu Jiang et al.

Summary: The interaction between Cu and Mn on the catalyst surface can effectively immobilize Cu single atoms, restrain their aggregation, and improve CO oxidation activity. The formation of the Cu-O-Mn entity benefits CO catalytic activity by accelerating reactions through the migration of reactive oxygen species and coordination effect of active centers.

Ozone Decomposition by a Manganese-Organic Framework over the Entire Humidity Range

Zhi-Bing Sun et al.

Summary: Ground-level ozone is a major airborne pollutant harmful to human health and ecosystems. The design of high-performance ozone elimination catalysts suitable for varying air compositions, especially water vapor content, remains challenging. ZZU-281, a new manganese-based metal organic framework, shows efficient ozone decomposition over a wide humidity range and possesses unique open channels and water stability.

Enhanced photocatalytic performance of PdO-loaded heterostructured nanobelts to degrade phenol

Ruixue Wang et al.

Summary: Heterostructured catalysts combining titanium dioxide nanobelts with palladium oxide nanoparticles exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity for the degradation of phenol and methyl orange. PdO-C-NB showed the highest degradation efficiency among the four catalysts tested, with a 61% degradation rate for phenol within 90 minutes, nearly double that of using NB. The enhanced photocatalytic property of PdO-C-NB was attributed to its large specific surface area, abundant photocatalytic active sites, and low recombination rate of electron-hole pairs.
